Business Value from IT
Southern Housing Group are one of England’s largest Housing Associations in the UK, with more than 27,000 homes for over 72,000 people. Whether it’s traditional social housing, shared ownership, affordable rent, private market rent, or outright sales, they offer a range of services to communities across the south east of England
Southern Housing Group wanted to dramatically accelerate their Digital Transformation and needed support to operationally lead and run IT, during and alongside the Transformation work.
Virtrium provided an Interim IT Director at very short notice – within a week – and aided by several other interim managers, effectively ran IT for some months. Working with the senior executives and the management team, we conducted the strategic review in 10 weeks and presented findings and recommendations back to the Executive Team. The presentation included a clear presentation of prioritised development and a 3-year roadmap for Digital & IT developments.
The strategy was grounded in a plan for migration from current-state to future-state, with order-of-magnitude benefits and indicative costs by programme.
The strategy was developed and discussed with the Executive Team and stakeholders throughout the process, and was approved as part of a revised 3-year business plan.
The outputs clearly explained the costs, the plans, and how the proposed investments would enable change; improve the operating model; drive efficiencies; deliver effective information and business intelligence; and provide new digital engagement capability. Significant quick wins were also identified, including a dramatic improvement in Disaster Recovery capability (from months to days) and a likely 20% reduction in a major project’s costs.
Virtrium have turned a vision for how technology can make life easier for our customers and staff into a clear roadmap by working with the organisation at all levels.
